Get to Know Dr. Hammer
Dr. Hammer earned her Bachelor of Science in biology and Master of Arts in philosophy with a focus in healthcare ethics at Loyola University Chicago. She then went on to achieve her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. During that time, she met her husband, a Navy oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and the two traveled around the country for nearly a decade! With her deep love for working with kids, she spent one year providing hospital-based and special needs dentistry in Philadelphia, and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Chrissy Hammer’s passion for patient care was sparked by her wonderful childhood orthodontist and pediatric dentist. During her time in college, she knew she wanted to pursue a meaningful career in caring for smiles after working as a dental assistant in her hometown.
Today, Dr. Hammer is thrilled to plant roots in San Diego and provide local families with second-to-none care here at Kidz Place Dentistry! Known for her outstanding bedside manner, she takes pride in treating every child with the kindness and respect they deserve. Endlessly honing her skills to set a flourishing foundation for San Diego’s young patients, Dr. Hammer is proud to be a board-certified pediatric dentist and HealthyStart provider.
Outside the office, Dr. Hammer is happiest when she’s spending quality time with her amazing husband and two girls. As an all-around cardio enthusiast, you can also catch her running or cycling while listening to a good podcast!

When you and your child step into Kidz Place, you can always look forward to warm, intentional care from the friendliest team around. If it’s your child’s first time with us, our top focus will be getting to know all about you and your little one! We’ll also treat your kiddo’s smile to a gentle preventive cleaning and comprehensive exam. Parents are welcome to accompany their kids during treatment, and we always encourage you to ask any questions you may be wondering throughout your time with us!
After we polish and protect those little pearls, Dr. Hammer will take the time to share their findings with transparent, judgment-free guidance. Giving you the freedom to choose which option works best for your child and parenting philosophy means everything to our crew, so we’ll never rush appointments or pressure you into a treatment plan. At the end of the day, our goal is to leave you and your kiddo feeling confident about making the most informed decision for their smile!
